This deep dive follows her memoir In Other Words: the green pocket dictionary bought before a trip to Florence, the twenty years spent swimming along the safe shore of her native tongue, the night she was locked out of her Rome apartment and wrote her diary in Italian for the first time, and the short story The Exchange, where a translator loses her black sweater and accepts another.
